Community Empowerment in the Sene-Gambia Region
Exploring first-hand the role of community empowerment and sustainable development in Senegal and The Gambia is the focus of this summer seminar in the Sene-Gambia Region.
Details
The rich history of The Sene-Gambia region offers many interesting sites to visit including Goree Island, the Tumani Tenda Camp, and the African Human Rights Commission. Through these visits, excursions and panel discussions, participants will learn about Sene-Gambia development, educational access, options and opportunities for women, social service development, and the role of eco-tourism in Sene-Gambia development.
The seminar begins in Dakar, Senegal. Participants will travel together to Goree Island, Koalack, Barra, Serrekunda, and Banjul before returning to Dakar for departure.
The seminar will commence on Monday morning with breakfast and a welcome session. Seminar sessions will be held each day at various sites, with excursions scheduled throughout. A final reflection session focused on “bringing back new perspectives” will wrap up the seminar.
