Student Life

You will spend much of your time interacting with local students through your coursework at the Rashni Nilaya School of Social Work and with community groups.

Housing & Meals

You will live in an apartment close to the school.

Local Transportation

Mangalore is easily navigable by autorickshaws.  Students will be able to get most places around town by autorickshaw or foot.  In addition, car services are available should students need to get to locations not accessible by autorickshaw.

Orientation

During orientation you will get to know the Mangalore community, which will include either visits to local NGOs or to an area community where you will accompany social work students in their field placement.  This will expose you to some of the issues present in the community, as well as allow you to get to know some of your classmates.

Trips & Activities

Your social work experiences will allow you to see the culture and community of this region of India, while visits to local points of interest will show you the rich history that makes this country what it is today.

You can visit Kadri Manjunath Temple dating back to about 1068 A.D., Mangaladevi Temple from which the city’s name is derived, and the Sultan Battery built in black stones by Tippu Sulthan to prevent warships from entering the Gurpur River.

Also, you will take excursions to:
