Health & Safety
BCA is always concerned with the safety and well being of our students. We provide a detailed safety orientation upon arrival that covers important tips and instructions so you can stay safe. Our on-site resident directors are available whenever you are in need of medical attention and will ensure that you receive the required care during your time abroad.
Medical Insurance
BCA requires that all students have major medical insurance before going abroad. We will ask you to supply policy information on the BCA Certificate of Health that is signed by you and your doctor. You must contact your insurance provider before going abroad to ensure that you are covered while abroad and to learn the procedures to follow if you need medical services.
Obtaining Medical Services in Athens
During the BCA Athens orientation you will hear a presentation from a medical doctor who serves as the BCA doctor throughout the semester. Should you have any problems during your time in Athens, you can contact him or the resident director. There are many hospitals located throughout Athens.
Staying Safe
While you are abroad it’s important to follow the same common-sense safety precautions that you follow at home: never walk alone at night, keep doors locked, don’t allow strangers into your housing, and never leave bags or backpacks unattended. Pay close attention to the health and safety information at the on-site orientation and follow the resident director’s advice.
