Message from the Director
I have been Resident Director here in Cheltenham for about two years, although I have worked at the university for nearly twenty years. I currently teach Business Strategy and International Business and have pastoral/academic responsibility for International students in the Business School. This job takes me to lots of interesting places such as China, Poland and Greece to recruit students. I like the diversity of my job and the challenges it presents. The overseas travel is a bonus as I love to visit new countries and learn more about their cultures.
My ties with the U.S. are academic and familial. My family and I have traveled extensively in North America whilst living in central Illinois. I have now been to 47 states of America with only Vermont, North Dakota and Arkansas still to conquer. Some of them I have passed through but need to go back and explore in much more detail. My great grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Liverpool in 1924 with five of their six children. The family grew (I have lost count of how many cousins I possess) but most of us do manage to keep in touch via the e-mail and phone.
I grew up in Liverpool around the time the Beatles became famous. It was very exciting getting to see the explosion of rock and roll music first hand and be able to go to live concerts. Besides travel and music, my main interests are reading, swimming, theatre and playing with my three little grandchildren.
I thoroughly enjoy my role as BCA Resident Director. My many duties include academic advisor, banker, tour guide, travel consultant, party planner and counselor to name but a few! I am admirably supported by my Associate Director Sandy Griffiths. We look forward to welcoming you to Cheltenham and helping to make your Study Abroad experience memorable.
