Student Life

As a BCA student, you’ll live with Irish and other international students in nearby student apartments. While walking or biking around Galway you can enjoy the city’s natural beauty—the
salmon-stocked River Corrib runs right along the edge of the campus. When you want to get away, you can hop on a train and be in Dublin in about three hours

Housing

Most BCA Galway students live in Gort na Coiribe, a large student residence complex located near the NUI Galway campus. BCA students live in apartments with either two or five other students. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bedrooms and television. As soon as we receive your completed NUI Galway application, staff at the BCA central office will request your housing preferences. In Ireland (along with many other European countries) it’s normal for males and females to live together in student housing.

Meals

There are a number of restaurants and snack bars available on the campus that are open throughout the day and evening, cater to a variety of tastes, and offer good value and choice. BCA students receive a meal allowance each month and often purchase groceries at a nearby grocery store and eat at restaurants on campus.

Local Transportation

The university is located within walking distance from downtown Galway. Public transportation is also easily accessible and inexpensive.

Computer Access

The university's campus network supports a range of academic computing facilities including a number of NetWare servers, under the management of Computer Services. IBM-compatible PC suites are connected to the NetWare servers providing Internet and e-mail facilities to registered students free of charge.

Sports Facilities

The university's indoor and outdoor sports and recreation centers offer courts Olympic handball, badminton, volleyball and basketball. Other activities available include table tennis, boxing, karate and aerobics. There are playing fields for field hockey, rugby and football. Membership fees are not included in the BCA fee.
