University Information
The University of San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is a private, American-style university that was founded in 1985. The school, often considered “the premier university of Ecuador,” has approximately 3,300 undergraduate students, about 10 percent of which are international students. While 70% of the professors are Ecuadorian, other instructors come from all over the world including the United States, Europe, Asia and other countries in Latin America. Almost all faculty have doctoral degrees and have studied and/or worked outside of Ecuador.
Course Information
Tasteful Courses
The University of San Francisco Quito has one of the best culinary schools in South America. Although certain courses are for majors only, several are open to international students.
As a BCA student, you will have the opportunity to take Spanish language classes as well as regular university courses with Ecuadorian students. USFQ offers a variety of courses in many academic disciplines. Click here for more course information.
BCA Courses
Students enrolled in the fall take the three-credit, four-week pre-semester course "Ecuador - Language and Culture.” This course offers intensive language training, along with information about Ecuador's history, culture and current issues. Spring term students review highlights of the same material during orientation, but not as a credit-bearing course.
After completing this pre-semester course, students may choose to take additional Spanish language courses or, if appropriate, enroll in regular university courses in about 20 different disciplines.
Libraries and Computer Labs
USFQ has one research library with computers and internet access. You will find additional computer labs scattered throughout the campus.
