NEW! BCA IFE Strasbourg

The BCA-IFE Strasbourg internship track combines BCA’s popular Strasbourg program with exciting new opportunities for learning through Internships with Francophone Europe (IFE), which places students in contemporary France alongside French professionals. You will discover a lively European society moving in new directions that are stimulating, contradictory and creative! If you want to study in France for the full year, you can study on the traditional Strasbourg program in the fall and switch to the internship track in the spring!

Expert Resident Director

Full-time, on-site Resident Director, Alex Neff has been the director of BCA France since 2002.  Alex is a native of Pennsylvania. During his undergraduate studies at Messiah College, he studied abroad through BCA in Nancy. He holds an M.A. in international affairs from George Washington University and a Master in history from Robert Schuman University, Strasbourg. Before joining BCA, Alex worked at the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, D.C. and taught English at a private school in Taejon, South Korea. In 2006, Alex published “Une Clarté Bien Franche”, a biography of French Mennonite pastor and peace activist Pierre Widmer.  Alex lives with his wife and four children in Strasbourg. 

Great Onsite Facilities

The BCA center on the avenue de la Foret Noire is a hub where students can meet with the resident director during office hours, but the center is open throughout the day to students. There is also free internet access and a small library at the center.

University of Strasbourg

• BCA at Strasbourg introduces students to the European learning style at one of the country's oldest and most distinguished centers of learning. 
• Founded in 1621, the University of Strasbourg has more than 40,000 students and comprises three universities - each of which has specialty institutes of its own.
• Institut International d'Etudes Françaises—French language
• Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Strasbourg (IEP)—Political science, economics, history

• École de Management (formerly IECS)—Business, economics

BCA Orientation

• The BCA program begins with a three-day orientation, during which students learn about the university, meet with BCA advisors and meet their host families.  

Extra Educational Opportunities

• Tour Verdun battlefields, the Alsace wine route and the Chateau de Haut-Koenigsbourg and Art Nouveau museum in Nancy
• Participate in excursions that may include professional football games, a bike trip along the canal de la Bruche, a hike to the prehistoric site at Le Donon, or a tour of the Medieval library of the Grand Seminaire
• Attend BCA’s International Student Conference on U.S.-European Relations (spring semester only)
