Student Life
Housing and Meals
All BCA students live in Dunmore Lang College, a student housing complex adjacent to the Macquarie University campus. You will live in a single room with communal bathroom in either the McCredie or Mansfield wing at Dunmore Lang. This international, co-ed housing complex offers students the chance to become fully immersed in Australian life and culture. Dunmore Lang sponsors many social and sporting activities throughout the semester to help students take a break from the rigors of coursework.
You will eat meals at the Dunmore Lang cafeteria. The food selection is not as extensive as that of your home university; however, you will find hot meals, including a vegetarian selection, salads and sandwiches. The cafeteria serves three meals each day (during specified meal times) except for Saturday, when it serves only the first two meals of the day. You can also take advantage of the full kitchen facilities and barbecues available for students, so you can either pick up some groceries at the food shops at the mall or go out, as many students do anyway on Saturday night.
University Life
Macquarie has more than 20 clubs you can join, or you can take a “short course” in one of the following areas: Latin dance, golf, salsa, scuba diving, self-defense or tennis. The short courses are designed for students to gain basic skills while working with an expert and generally cost less than $100. They run over a four to nine week period with an hour lesson one day each week.
